![]() ![]() I can't wait to continue with the rest of the series. With utterly beautiful poetic lines, and the same abstract artwork as the first issue, there's nothing about this that doesn't interest me. As the issue goes on, the action gets more and more exciting, and leaving me riveted to the spot. Evey begins to shine in her new role as an anarchist, rather than a matchstick packer and attempted prostitute, and this issue took my breath away. This issue was a wonderful continuation from issue one, proving V to be more merciless than we originally thought, showing himself to be a vicious, but meticulous killer. Being such a large comic classic, it's something that I have had interested in for a long time, finally getting to read all ten issues is something that has goosebumps crawling over my arms. Evey, on the other hand, slowly gets more comfortable with the vigilante, and falls deeper into his master mind plot.Īfter reading the first issue of V for Vendetta three times now, I was finally able to sit down and read the whole of this series, something I am seriously excited for. In the second issue of V for Vendetta, V continues his crusade against the tyrants that are ruling Great Britain, and bombs another prominent building amidst attacking a Bishop. ![]() There's much better material on the topic, out there. Overall, I can recommend neither the movie or the graphical novel. (This also helps in understanding the disorientation of the crowds.) Last but not least, the graphical novel format hinders the reader, as most of the dialogue stems from similarly-faced, similarly-dressed characters. The depiction of V is artificially mystical, whereas everyone else, from the crowd to the state apparatus, receive sparing attention. I found the story rather cliched and linear, despite attempts to spice it up through alternative ploys. Overall, I was rather unimpressed with this graphical novel. explosion (Westminster area.) Unclear ending. * 8 of 10: Explosion (TV Tower, Jordan Tower.) The Nose is dead. * 6 of 10: Evie is captured and tortured. Guy Fawkes in the newspaper (Daily Mirror, tabloid.) Evie in a love story. * 2 of 10: Explosion (Palace of Justice.) The reverent. * 0 of 10: The story of the creation of this series. Through ruthless action mixed with acts of genuine kindness, V will give spark to the revolution. In this setting, V is the modern hero who, having understood the structure and survived the murderous attempts of the government, attempts to topple the regime. As Labor quickly turns into a fascist party, labor camps are used to exterminate whoever the leaders deem undesirable, and the citizens live from day to day. (This scenario has been popular with sci-fi writers from the mid-1950s, with books such as Brian Aldiss's Hothouse and movies such as On the Beach as prominent examples.) UK has been saved by the anti-nuclear policies of its ruling Labor party, but had to give up in the process-we don't learn why-all personal freedom and rights. In the mid- to end-1990s, UK is one of the few surviving states the other major powers have annihilated each other in a nuclear war. The book focuses on V, who fights against the totalitarian government. As such, this graphical novel is part of a topical list that includes Zamyatin's We, Huxley's Brave New World, and Orwell's 1984. V for Vendetta is Alan Moore's take on dystopia here, the hero takes on the totalitarian regime set in the UK. ![]() I have individual marks for each installment, explained in part in the volume chronology (see the spoiler.)] as a series eleven installments, of which ten are the actual story and one a summary of the creative process, so this will be one review repeated across each. He made a deal too."]Īnd the fact that V plays the Fifth symphony while he kills for the du-du-du-DUMMM! is V in Morse code.is highly entertaining, amusing :) ![]() I did think that Adam Susan's monologue about his lover Fate was quite pathetic, as well as V's imaginary dialogue with miss Justice, but the references to Faustus, To read this issue of V's rage against the mad Authorities and their minions one must have a pre-acquired knowledge in music and literature. ![]()
